The Pearl in Berlin is a club I remembered again a few month ago. 2 years ago I was there before but I totally forgot about this club. This has one reason: it is a little bit more fancy club and I am most of the time more for clubs where I do not have to wear high heels.
The Club
It is near to the train station S+U Zoologischer Garten or U Kurfürstenstraße, from both you walk around 5 to 10 minutes. Around the club, itself are much bars and restaurants where you can go before. The Pearl itself also opens earlier and you can enjoy some drinks before the dance floor opens. The dance floor opens around midnight and often everybody is already waiting for it. The location is good. After the Entrance and ID control you go downstairs there is also the wardrobe where you can leave your jacket. Then you come to the lounge there are some seats and tables to relax and a big round bar in the middle of the room, sometimes there is also a dancefloor but of the time it is more the relaxing area but for sure they still play music. From this lounge, you go trough to a floor to the dance floor that has a gigantic VIP area, a bar for sure, small smoking area and the most important; the dance floor. Sometimes when it gets to full in the club it is quite tight on the dancefloor. The toilets are clean there and they have much so I never stood there in line, you come there from the dancefloor and from the lounge.
The Music
For me, the most important thing in a club is the music. Everybody have a different taste in music, mine is Hip Hop and R’n’B and The Pearl play most of their events this kind of music. In the beginning, the music is always really nice and I can dance dance dance … But often after a while, the Dj switch too often the music or the music gets to electric for me. Everybody is different in this but I write about my opinion and often I leave The Pearl latest 3 am because the music is not my taste anymore. In general, I like the music and sometimes the music is longer good and sometimes it gets worse quite fast, I don’t know on what this depends on.
The Dresscode
I already wrote that the club is a little bit fancier. The dress code is always “Dress like it’s your first date with us”, now the question is what this means. To be honest, I was there also with sneakers before, they are not so strict with girls. For men, it is the best to wear a shirt and I do not mean a T-shirt, I mean a real shirt and clean shoes, but you can also try it with a normal t-shirt. My Boyfriend came in with long jeans and a t-shirt last time. Let’s say like this you should not look like you just went out to go to the supermarket.
The Prices
The entry is quite cheap when you know how to get it cheap. In Berlin, we have a website that helps you to get on the guestlist in the clubs and because of this, you pay much less. For example for Friday the normal entrance is 10€ but when you write yourself on the guest list before 6 pm you just pay 5€ til 1 am. So before you go to any club in Berlin you can check if they are on this website and you can also check what clubs have open and what kind of music is playing there! So check here before you go to a party! The drinks are a little bit more expensive than in some other clubs. The Pearl is a little bit fancier and that is why the prices are also a little bit more “fancy” but it is still okay. For a cocktail, you pay around 10€ depending on what cocktail, for vodka energy you pay 8€. The wardrobe cost 2€ per piece.
Afterwork
On every Thursday there is the Afterwork party at the Pearl and I tried it last week and it was really amazing. My boyfriend and I were really impressed. Normally they open 6 pm but at this day, because it was celebration day in Germany they opened at 8 pm. With our digital club card, we had free entrance, that was a perfect start. It was really full from the beginning but we found a place to sit. My boyfriend got some drinks for us, what took a little bit time because the bar was quite full but he just paid 7€ for two Aperol Spritz! At the after work, it is half price on all drinks for a like 3 hours. The next amazing thing is the free finger food that tastes really good and normally you get like one time something from the finger food but the service was amazing. They walked around for many times so we got 3 times food. They had chicken with peanut ( what we did not taste because I am so allergic to peanuts), fried dumpling ( that tasted amazing!) and some biscuit with apple ( also really nice). While you enjoy the drinks and the food you get some live music that is a really good start for a party. From 9 pm the dance floor was open and the music was also good. The Dj switched too often the songs but it was still good. It was a really good party where you just could sit and talk or you to the dancefloor and dance. The people were really mixed also from the age. There is just one thing that disappointed us a little bit: the summer terrace, it is just some tables with chairs in front of the entrance. The rest we enjoyed really much and we hope that we have soon a chance again to go there!
